Helping You Look Good

Let's Talk About How It All Started And Where It's All Going

Humble Beginnings
Growing up, Janice has always had a passion for beauty and she was very keen on starting her career in this industry. Hilton made her first step by gaining 2 Nail Technician qualifications by Creative Nail Academy in Manchester. After this, Janice began her journey as a mobile nail technician, working around the clock to support her and her youngest daughter at the time.

A Place to Be
Since becoming a popular local mobile technician, Janice began to struggle with the demands of her enthusiastic clients and decided her next step would be to find a fixed location for her business - that would soon come to be the thriving Sweet Chanice Beauty Salon in Victorian Arcade. But in 2004, it all started with renting a little stall section in Barnsley Markets under the name of "Chanails". The name was inspired by her daughter Chanel.

Soon after, Janice decided to expand her services. She wanted to be more than offering nail treatments. In 2007, she took on a 17-year-old apprentice named Stephanie Appleyard (now Ekin and the co-owner of Sweet Chanice's sister company, Sweet Lounge). The success of this change meant she had to focus on re-branding her business. She thought of "Sweet Chanice": A mixture of herself and her daughter's names in one.

Change of Path
Towards the end of 2011, Janice began focusing her attention on non-invasive cosmetic procedures which included Semi-permanent Makeup and Fibroblast. In 2012, she trained with K.B. Pro Permanent Makeup Artistry and began taking on clients in the comfort of her own home in conjunction to working at the salon.

In 2017, Janice trained to be an Advanced Fibroblast Technician. After gaining this qualification, Hilton was the first to bring Fibroblasting and SPMU in to the heart of Barnsley Town Centre. She opened up her clinic in the historic Burlington Arcade building, Eldon St.

Burlington Arcade is now the home to Janice Jane: Permanent Cosmetics, where all of her aesthetic treatments now take place.

Present-day
Janice and Steph recently set up a Training Academy next door to the clinic. Above Trading Academy predominantly focuses on aesthetic and beauty training. It also hosts a popup store called Above Trading open exclusively to salon owners and trainees.

As of November 2019, Janice became the UK distributor of Purebeau and Training. She has since trained her oldest daughter Chanel who has now grown up to be a senior nail technician and a junior semi-permanent make up artist in the clinic.

The Future
In February of 2020, Janice is set to train Abby (A loyal senior technician of Sweet Chance), the art of Fibroblasting where she begin as a Junior technician alongside at the clinic in Burlington.
